Luminosa will be performing at St Thomas-on-The Bourne Church in Farnham on November 15 at 7pm.
The adults of Luminosa and the younger voices of the Farnham Youth Choir, led by international conductor Patrick Barrett, will be performing John Rutter’s charming and moving Mass of the Children and Vivaldi’s Gloria, joined by Gavin Roberts on the organ.
The Farnham Youth Choir will also be performing its own segment of complementary music.
Luminosa director Rebekah Abbott said: “Rutter’s Mass of the Children is a radiant celebration of community, faith and musical splendour. It stands as a luminous cornerstone of modern choral-orchestral repertoire.
“Crafted to be both deeply moving and brightly accessible, this contemporary setting of the Latin Mass invites singers and listeners alike into a shared, uplifting experience.”
Gavin Roberts is one of the most in-demand organists and pianists of recent years. An extraordinarily versatile musician, he has appeared at venues across the UK and abroad, is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and is artistic director of Song in the City, for which he has devised more than 150 concerts.
His recent work includes a choreographed Schubert’s Winterreise, a London Fashion Week show for designer Patrick McDowell, and a Welsh tour of Novello & Son with Rosamund Shelley. He also worked with Luminosa and Joanna Forbes L’Estrange on the international launch concert in London of A Season to Sing, L’Estrange’s work based on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
Under the direction of Rebekah Abbott, Alton-based Luminosa has two adult choirs, the 80-strong Luminosa Voices and an auditioned group of 20 members of the main choir who make up Luminosa Chamber Voices.
Luminosa concerts always sell out so booking is essential. Tickets are priced at £16 for adults and £9 for children. For more information and to book visit www.luminosamusic.com
