WE KNEW you wouldn’t let us down! The Herald asked for details of Jubilee events happening locally over the June 2 to 5 long weekend – and what a list of Jubilee celebrations we have lined up...

There’s everything from royal-themed village fêtes to Big Lunches, live music nights, pub quizzes, classic car festivals and much more to look forward to, so get ready for a right royal good time!

Here’s our list of events for the third day of the four-day Jubilee weekend, Saturday, June 4:

  • Dockenfield: Platinum Jubilee-themed village fete, the Playing Field, Abbotts Cottages, 2pm to 6pm – With old favourites such as the coconut shy and bouncy castle plus exciting new additions like the Out of the Blue Jazz Band. There’ll be the annual tug of war too, the legendary Dockenfield Dog Show, and plenty of races for the kids, plus tea, cake, barbecue, beer tent and stalls.
  • Bordon & Oakhanger: Jubilee celebration, at Bordon & Oakhanger Sports Club (BOSC) midday to 4pm – Live music, arts and crafts, a fancy dress competition and a very royal dog parade. A classic English afternoon tea will also be on offer.
  • Bordon: BBC’s Platinum Party at the Palace on the big screen, in Parade Square. Ticket Cinema will be using its unique outdoor setting and state-of-the-art 50 square metre screen to live stream the BBC’s incredible Platinum Party at the Palace. The screening is free to attend and there will be a bar, food stalls, and fairground rides.
  • Wrecclesham: Queen’s Jubilee Tea, Brambleton Hall, Talbot Road, at 3pm –  Traditional tea. Come and meet your friends and make it an occasion to remember.  Lots of delicious cakes guaranteed.
  • Upper Hale: Family Fun Day, Sandy Hill Field, 10am to midday – free activities with bouncy castle, games, fire engine, music, treasure hunt, tug-o-war and ramble.
  • Upper Hale: Jubilee Lunch, St Mark’s Church, 12.30pm to 2pm – free lunch with live music and a display of photos of people and past events from Hale History Project. Plus a chance to see and hear more about the recently- restored murals from the experts
  • Hale: Picnic in the Park, Hale Recreation Ground, 2pm to 4pm – Bring your own picnic and enjoy live singing, music and dancing displays by local groups (toilet facilities open in the Institute and Scout Hut). Church on the Green – selling teas and coffee with exhibition of Jubilee memorabilia.
  • Elstead: Children’s Sport and Fun Afternoon, Thursley Road Rec, 1.30pm to 5pm – A range of fun activities, arts and crafts and sport for all ages.
  • Elstead: A Right Royal Barn Dance, Thursley Road Rec – Hogs Back Band and caller will provide the music and instruction for a toe-tapping traditional barn dance. Doors open at 7pm for an 8pm start with beer, bar and barbecue available. Tickets available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/Elstead-Jubilee or Chandlers Garage on The Green.
  • Chiddingfold: CHIDDFEST, at Coxcombe Recreation Field from 12.30pm to 8pm – the biennial family-friendly music festival is back for its fourth year with live staged music from local performers. There will also be food and refreshments and activities for children of all ages, as well as a focus on health and well-being – with tents offering yoga and Pilates.   • Alton: Let’s Get Creative For The Jubilee free family fun day, the Public Gardens, 10am to 4pm – creative writing, drama, script and story writing workshops to help children wishing to enter Alton Town Council’s children’s writing competition with a royal theme launched to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Their short stories and poems will be included in the council’s first children’s anthology in aid of the town mayor’s charity for 2022 to 2023.   • Haslemere: Scarecrow Competition judging, Lion Green at 3pm – Following the success of the first scarecrow competition last year, there will be a second competition this year with the theme of Royalty. Full details from the Rotary Club of Haslemere.
  • Haslemere: Jubilee Concert, at St Christopher’s Church, 7pm – The programme includes music from the Queen’s coronation. Free entry with retiring collection and the surplus going to support Ukraine. Haslemere Twinning Association will also be welcoming our friends from Horb am Neckar to this concert.
