It was a delightful gig with my Vic Cracknell Swing Band at The Shed, Bordon on Saturday night. Lovely to see a full dance floor and we got lots of nice comments.

I also enjoyed playing solo at Alton Flavourfest where the sun was shining and lots of people were enjoying the food, drink and music.

I am pleased that The Wheatsheaf, Farnham is now starting live music and I will be playing there on Wednesday, September 20. I will be playing a mix of well known songs, requests and some original songs. It’s free entry and I do hope it will get some support.

1980s/90s indie covers band Stolen By Thieves are playing this Saturday, September 9 at The Star, Guildford. Support act is singer songwriter Dave Norgrove. Free entry but money raised will go the Sam Beare Woking Hospice. For more information contact Pete Coles on 07802 683738. This event is to celebrate the life of Auntie Peggy who was Stolen By Thieves biggest fan.

Music At The Pottery is back on September 15. They introduce lots of new music from talented performers. It’s always an eclectic mix in a delightful setting at Farnham Pottery. This time they feature Mark and Deirdre, Rob Clamp, Antoine & Owena and Sheya Lily. It has already sold out but always worth checking for return tickets when people are unable to go.

Lindisfarne and Fairport Convention fans will want to see Silver Blues who are playing for Grayshott Folk Club on Saturday, September 23. It will include Ray Jackson an original member of Lindisfarne and who also memorably played the mandolin solo on Rod Stewart’s hit Maggie May.

They also include Ric Sanders violinist for Fairport Convention amongst their group. Tickets available at £22 from Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096 or Grayshott Post Office (www.grayshottfolkclub.co.uk).

Trombonist Edwin ‘Boots’ Baker has been in touch to tell me that popular ska band Key Lime Pi, that he plays in, will be at the White Hart, Holybourne near Alton on September 23 and at the William Cobbett, Farnham on Saturday, September 30.

Petersfield-based singer songwriter Oli Patient, who played at my Young Artist Showcase back in July, has a new single out called Out Of Time. It is available on all the streaming platforms. It is also on my Spotify playlist called Surrey Songwriters. Put this into your search and you should find it. The playlist includes a track each from around 70 local talented artists.

Brian Player continues his Folk, Roots and Acoustic music show each Tuesday evening at 8pm on Wey Valley radio based in Alton. Wey Valley radio is on 101.1FM or online at www.weyvalley.uk
