A PIG forced the A31 in Farnham to close this Wednesday, after it escaped from a horse box and was stuck on the central reservation.

Surrey Police tweeted that a report was received around 2.10pm on Wednesday, October 2 and as a result, was forced to close the A31 completely between the A325 West Street for the Coxbridge Roundabout and the Shepherd and Flock Roundabout.

Officers from the Waverley Neighbourhood Team posted online: "The A31 at #Farnham is currently closed in both directions while we deal with an escaped pig, reported around 2.10pm today. Please avoid the area if you can. Further updates to follow."

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance, assisting officers with the incident.

The Herald understands the incident was resolved at around 6pm, four hours after it was first reported.
