Farringdon Horticultural Society held another successful Farringdon Open Gardens event on Sunday, July 3.

Despite the society’s worries about roadworks which have closed the A32 Gosport Road through Lower Farringdon since June 27, more than 200 visitors attended the event.

The weather was kind to the organisers, providing perfect conditions for enjoying the gardens.

The society’s profit on the day was £1,200, enabling it to donate £600 to Alton Community Care. Plant sales at Berry Cottage raised £210 which was donated to Marie Curie.

Society secretary Christine Bohringer said: “Visitors were very complimentary on the day.

“One visitor took the trouble to email us afterwards, saying that Farringdon gardens had moved to top of her list.

“This was due not only to the lovely gardens but also the friendly owners talking to visitors and making them feel so welcome.”
