THE stress surrounding the future of Alton Town Football Club reached new levels over the weekend with news that chairman Jim McKell had suffered a minor stroke.

First-team manager Colin Fielder said that while the situation was "unsettling for everybody", the pressure on Mr McKell to try to save the club was immense.

While he is now on the mend, the knock on effect of trying to find alternative premises and to prevent a haemorrhage of players to other clubs, is taking its toll on The Brewers' morale.
