FOOTBALL fans have united in a bid to save Alton Town from going under - and they are urging townsfolk to do the same.
Support has been flooding in for the beleaguered club, which is under notice to vacate the Coors Sports Ground – its home for almost 30 years – at the end of the season.
Scores have tweeted support and more than 700 have signed an online petition, urging landlords Molson Coors to re-engage with Alton Town Council and East Hampshire District planners to come up with a plan that will enable the club to move to a new stadium and to allow the club to remain at its present ground until the situation is resolved.
