Old Bordon is to benefit from £178,000 of investment in the Forest Community Centre as the Whitehill & Bordon Community Party starts to wield its influence at East Hampshire District Council.
Party leader Cllr Andy Tree said: “There is much concern from long-term residents that older parts of Bordon are overlooked in favour of the new development and new town centre area.
“I am pleased to say that as East Hampshire District Council cabinet member for the Whitehill & Bordon area, I have made an executive decision to approve a grant of £178,000 to the Forest Community Centre for refurbishment to improve facilities and reduce carbon footprint, becoming more ‘green’ and reducing costs over time.
“This demonstrates our Whitehill & Bordon Community Party commitment to this part of town and our long-term support of this community facility and groups who use it. This money comes from the developer contribution Section 106 fund that East Hampshire District Council controls.”
Forest Community Centre general manager Lindsay Kelly added: “Thank you to Andy Tree and East Hampshire District Council for their support in helping us serve our local community.”
