Firefighters from across Hampshire fought a blaze at a beauty spot between Bordon and Alton yesterday.

Crews from Alton, Emsworth and Portchester dealt with a large fire in the open on Kingsley Common.

The alarm was raised around 4.30pm on Wednesday (August 12) with the resulting column of smoke being seen from afar as Sleaford and Bordon.

Firefighters were onsite for just over two hours with the blaze affecting four acres of stubble and grass across two fields.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire & Rescue said: “The fire was extinguished with the help of one hose reel jet, beaters, water from a water carrier and four Land Rover tanks. The crews left the scene at 18:42.”
