Youth leader Lisa Hillan will give a free talk entitled Vulnerable Young People: Unseen, Unheard at the Alton Maltings Centre on September 16 from 7pm to 8.30pm.
A former lawyer and educator, Lisa has run youth and community initiatives in Alton since moving from San Diego in 2007. She is policy director at The Kings Arms youth centre, having led its launch in 2018, and her other roles in the town include nine years as chair of governors at Eggar’s School, chair of the East Hampshire Local Children’s Partnership, and a trustee of the parish parochial church council.
This is the first of a series of speaker events being run by the East Hampshire Liberal Democrats. Alton Westbrooke councillor Emily Young, their deputy group leader, said: “Lisa will be talking about the work her charity The Kings Arms does supporting young people in Alton and surrounding areas - there is also a branch in Petersfield - on such topics as young carers, county lines and school avoidance.”
