ALTON Town Council has the go ahead to use up to £43,300 from developer's contributions towards the replacement of a bandstand in the Public Gardens.
The present bandstand, which is well used, was installed in 1936 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V, and it is now in need of replacement.
Following public consultation a new bandstand was considered number one choice to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year.
