THE ALTON Local Food Initiative has won another award at a garden festival.

It was asked to contribute to the second Gardeners’ World Festival at Beaulieu. The committee, chaired by Liz Griffiths, and volunteers created and staffed its example of community gardening, showing how it turns neglected plots in the town into cultivated, productive and attractive areas from which vegetables, fruit and herbs are harvested and offered free to passers-by.

Visitors were interested, inspired and educated, and exhibit planner Ann Foulkes accepted a silver award for the ALFI stand.
