ALTHOUGH there weren’t as many visitors as last year, those that went to see the garden at 15th Century Wheatley House in Wheatley, near Binsted, were treated to a wonderful array of colour and variety of flowers.

It is one of the most noted gardens in the area and owner Susannah Addlington admitted it had been a lot of hard work to get it looking perfect for the open day.

There was also a craft sale and the teas in the barn organised by the ladies from Binsted Church and the event raised £900 for the National Gardens Scheme.

Mrs Addlington said: “We will go back to opening the garden in August as we usually do as we were up against a lot of events that weekend. But those who came really enjoyed the garden.

“Next year we will be opening our garden on August 20-21.”
