The third annual Three Horseshoes Summer Walk will be held on June 11 from 2pm.

It offers residents and visitors a guided exploration of some of East Hampshire’s most scenic and historically rich landscapes.

The walk has been planned in conjunction with the team at Walk Alton and has been organised by local guide Paul Ebbutt, who will also lead it.

It aims to foster a sense of community connection to the landscape while supporting health, well-being and sustainable tourism in the area.

This year’s circular route, titled A Commons Circuit, covers approximately 8.5 miles and will begin at The Three Horseshoes pub in East Worldham, taking in Kingsley and Shortheath commons, Binswood Nature Reserve and King John’s Hill.

The event has grown steadily in popularity since its launch in 2023, attracting walkers of all ages interested in exploring East Hampshire’s diverse landscapes.

The route combines natural beauty with points of historical and cultural interest, including the 12th-century St Mary the Virgin Church in East Worldham and its ancient yews, a preserved section of Roman road, Wyck Place country estate, Gold Hill on Kingsley Common, the abandoned railway line, and the heaths and woodlands of Shortheath Common and Binswood Nature Reserve.

There are a few steep hills and stiles, and a reasonable level of fitness is advised. The full route is expected to take around four hours, returning to The Three Horseshoes by early evening.

The walk is free to attend but places are limited. Friendly and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Book a place at [email protected] or on 01420 559258.
