WAVERLEY Borough Council is encouraging voluntary organisations to bid for grants for funding for health and wellbeing activities for the coming year.

A total of £85,540 is available from the Waverley Voluntary Partnership. The money is jointly provided by Waverley Borough Council and Surrey County Council.

Examples of this year’s schemes are:–

• A café for people with mental health problems

• Activity groups for people living with dementia

• Transport for older people to get to community activities and

• A stroke recovery group.

The deadline to submit applications is at 5pm, on Monday, January 25.

Stefan Reynolds, councillor for grants, said: “Voluntary schemes make a vital contribution to health and wellbeing across the borough.

“They provide great value for money, opportunities for people to volunteer and make a real difference at local level. I hope there will be some new schemes coming forward this year as well as opportunities to continue to support those that have been successful this year.”

Grants are for voluntary, community and faith groups and information and advice about the funding process can be found at www. waverley. gov.uk/grants or by calling 01483 523067 or by emailing communities @waverley.gov.uk
