A pupil at Eggar’s School in Holybourne has received a highly commended award from the judges of this year’s Poetry by Heart competition.
Poetry by Heart is an annual national contest which requires schoolchildren to learn two poems by heart and then perform them.
As the winner of Eggar’s Key Stage 3 school competition, Year 7 pupil Clara saw her performance video submitted for entry into the national competition.
Clara chose to perform the poems I’m Nobody! Who are you? by Emily Dickinson and Time by Valerie Bloom.
In their feedback, the judges said: “You have a lovely clear voice and we enjoyed the lively way you engaged with the poem and made it your own. Well done, Clara!”
