DESPITE the forecast, the rain held off and 155 visitors arrived in the village of Farringdon to enjoy an afternoon looking around the 11 open gardens, two of which open regularly under the National Gardens Scheme.
Sales of teas and plants were popular, increasing the afternoon’s takings to more than £1,000, which exceeded expectations.
All the garden owners agreed that the afternoon had been a great success and well worth the effort put in by everyone.
A spokesman for the organising committee said: “As always the public support and generosity is greatly appreciated, helping to support this year’s charity, which is Alton Cardiac Rehab.”
Farringdon village summer show will be held this year on August 13, in the delightful setting of All Saints’ Church.
