WINCHESTER Science Centre and Planetarium’s new free live science show Lights, Camera, Science! runs until July 3.

Sit back, grab your popcorn and get comfy as the centre continues its celebration of 20 years of science wow by heading back to the blockbuster year of 2002.

Visitors will be invited to explore how light, not CGI, could have been used in some of that year’s top films.

Astronauts in training can also blast off into the solar system in the planetarium, explorers can get hands-on with the two floors of interactive exhibits and adventurers can head outside into nature in Bio:Space.

Visitors are invited to take a trip down memory lane at Winchester Science Centre this year. The team are bringing back some of the best show themes and demos from the past 20 years – all with a retro 2002 twist – and this May and June it’s all about light.

Did you know that 2002 sparked a digital transformation in cinema? Digital film paved the way for CGI – Computer Generated Imagery. But what if the movie directors from 2002 had chosen to use practical light effects instead? In Lights, Camera, Science! visitors will join the Science Centre Inspirers to find out what this might have looked like.

Explosive experiments and illuminating audience participation will bring the movies to life right in front of your eyes. To book tickets visit WinchesterScienceCentre.org
