STAFF at The Golden Pot pub have said “something has to be done” after yet another crash on their doorstep.
Landlord Nik Christides said the crossroads on the New Odiham Road continue to be a “hotspot for accidents”.
The most recent incident, which occurred just after 5am last Sunday morning, saw the pub’s fence smashed to pieces when a Ford Focus skidded off the road. The driver escaped with only minor injuries.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said there were no arrests.
Mr Christides discovered the damage in the morning but wasn’t surprised.
“Five weeks since the last accident at The Golden Pot so I guess it was overdue,” he said.
Luckily it happened in the early hours of the morning when no-one was in the pub’s garden otherwise, he said, it could have been fatal.
Now at the end of his tether, he has urged people to sign a petition calling on Hampshire County Council to take action.
He said “the general consensus” is that traffic lights would solve many of the problems.
