Nina Persson, lead vocalist and co-writer with Swedish pop/rock band The Cardigans, is performing with Scottish folk singer James Yorkston at Grayshott Folk Club in Grayshott Village Hall on October 14 at 7.30pm.

Between 1992 and 2006 The Cardigans enjoyed worldwide success with hits including Lovefool, My Favourite Game and Erase/Rewind. Nina also pursued a solo career under the name A Camp and had hits including Love Has Left The Room.

James is also a songwriter, guitarist, pianist and published author who has released music on Domino Records since 2002. His debut album Moving Up Country was Rough Trade’s Album of the Year.

He was an integral and original member of Fence Collective, which also included King Creosote and KT Tunstall. In 2001 he sent a demo cassette to folk/rock legend John Martyn asking for a support slot on the Edinburgh date of John’s upcoming tour. After hearing the cassette he offered James all 31 dates of the tour. He has been featured many times on television.

Supporting Nina and James is Hannah Scott, who has included her song Skimming Stones – which was played on the Radio 2 Folk Show recently – on her new album Ancient Lights. Hannah supported The Ocelots at Grayshott Folk Club in April and her reputation as an accomplished performer is spreading rapidly.
