PEOPLE in Alton have another chance next week to have their say on the future development of the Molson Coors brewery site.

Following the first consultation in December, which saw more than 200 people contribute ideas for the future use of the former brewery site, detailed options have been drawn up towards the formation of a development brief.

Since the closure of the brewery at the end of May last year, ending 52 years of brewing on the Manor Park site, Molson Coors has joined forces with East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) and Alton Town Council to commission specialist consultants AECOM to produce a development brief, by the end of April, which will set out how the site can be best used in a deliverable and viable way to advise planners as they decide on future planning applications.

On March 2, people will have the opportunity to view and comment further on a range of different options for this town centre site, which are said to take into account some of the key points to come out of the December consultation, such as inclusion of affordable homes and community use.

Angela Glass, EHDC’s portfolio holder for planning, said: “This is your chance to have your say on the future of the site. Our first consultation was very broad but we are now getting a much clearer idea of how residents would like to see the site used.

“We have narrowed the process down to a few exciting options and I would encourage everyone in Alton to come along next week and get involved.”

The event takes place at the Alton Assembly Rooms on March 2, from 5pm-8pm.
