THE HERALD has launched a directory of takeaway and home delivery services in the wake of the decision to close pubs, restaurants and cafes across the UK.
Many local eateries have already adapted their methods to continue to provide for their communities, but will need support getting through the coming weeks and months.
To give our local business community a #HelpingHand, the Herald is calling on all pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops offering takeaway and home delivery services to add their details to a free directory, to be published in next week’s Herald.
If you are offering such a service and would like to take part, just email [email protected] with a few details about your offering, menu, operating hours and contact details.
Schools, libraries and leisure centres across the area also closed their doors on Friday, in a scaling up of the Government’s response to the crisis.
But likewise, many of these community facilities are seeking ways to continue operating their services.
Farnham Heath End School has sent students home with ’shutdown challenges’, Farnham Maltings is appealing for donations of iPads and laptops to support those cut off by library closures, and sports and leisure centre operator EveryoneActive is offering a 60 day trial of its online virtual fitness classes - to name a few.
In addition, supermarkets across the area have almost universally launched exclusive shopping hours for the over-70s to manage demand - although details vary from shop to shop. Check with your local branch.
And details are being finalised for the launch of a fully GDPR-compliant community support helpline to identify demand, and meet the needs of the more vulnerable and isolated members of the Farnham community, based out of the Maltings.
See the Herald’s website, and weekly print edition (on sale Thursdays in shops and online), for the latest updates.
