CYCLE Alton is appealing for more people to teach novice adult cyclists how to ride safely.

After another successful cycle training day on November 13 more adults asked Cycle Alton for further training courses.

But a spokesperson said: “Regretfully we are unable to offer more courses for adults. Cycling instructors love their work but there aren’t enough of them to meet the demand.”

Cycle Alton’s schools programme Bikeability teaches children aged ten to 12 to develop their skills and become confident riding on local roads.

Steve Parry, an instructor for 13 years, said: “I get such a kick from helping anyone to cycle safely, kids and adults. It’s such a fun way to get around. Everyone feels like a child again, out to play, when they hop on their bike.”

Instructors teach on a sessional basis and are paid £80 per day. The hours are 8.30am-3pm. For more information call Darren at Pedal Power on 02392 290474 or visit [email protected]
