A PLAN to persuade visitors to East Hampshire's top tourist attractions to stay longer is expected to
boost the economy.
The formation of a partnership between four of the
district's most popular destinations includes Petersfield Library, Gilbert White House in Selborne,
Chawton House Library, and Jane Austen's House
Museum in Chawton.
Made possible since the South Downs was designated
a national park, it is just one of hundreds of joint initiatives set out in the first Partnership Management
Plan for the South Downs National Park launched last
week.
Visitors to the park spend £464m each year and support more than 8,200 local jobs, but few stay
overnight.
The Heritage Collection partnership hopes to
increase these figures by encouraging more to visit
and stay for longer.
