ALTHOUGH acknowledging East Hampshire residents’ anger about a lockdown party at Number 10 Downing Street, MP Damian Hinds is taking a ‘wait and see’ approach.

In a statement, he said: “I have received very many emails from East Hampshire residents about the allegations of events in Downing Street. I am in no doubt how strongly people feel. The sacrifices made during the pandemic by millions of people have been massive. In some cases they were unable to see very sick and dying relatives or mourn at loved ones’ funerals.

“I recognise how let down and angry people feel to hear of the same rules not being applied in the very place the rules were made, and the prime minister was right to apologise.

“I do think it is right now to await what the senior official who is investigating will say.”
