A LARGE marquee came to the rescue of Binsted Fete and Flower Show after heavy rain began to fall.
While some stall holders braved it out under small gazebos dotted around the recreation ground, others were forced to opt for the shelter of the marquee.
However, the rain didn’t stop 500
people coming to enjoy what was a fun packed afternoon on on Saturday, July 22, with its circus workshop, a photographic competition, stalls galore, afternoon teas and a barbecue as well as the flower and domestic produce competition.
The Flower and Produce Show has been an integral part of the village fete for more than 80 years and as always local gardeners put on a stunning display of summer blooms and fruit and vegetables.
It attracted a lot of visitors and at the end Jamie Awdry was announced as a double-winner after gaining the Cox Cup for Best in Show and the Gwyther Cup for vegetables.
The Stephens Cup for best flowers went to Sam Barrow and the best domestic produce category was won by Carol Blunden.
