A Kingsley man has won an appeal to create a pitch for gypsy and traveller’s use in a village near Bordon.

David Matthews turned to the planning inspectorate after his bid create a pitch on land south of the Pigeon Coop in Dean Field was turned down.

East Hampshire District Council rejected the scheme amid concerns about its effect on the community of Kingsley and the character and appearance of the area.

But inspector Bhupinder Thandi believes the pitch on the L-shaped plot would not look out of place, as is already accommodates a touring caravan and pigeon coop.

He felt development would only represent a “small incursion” and is confident a single pitch would not lead to an over-proliferation of sites.
