They may have just fallen short of lifting the World Cup, but the Lionesses did plenty to inspire girls to lace up their football boots this summer – and there are plenty of options locally for those wishing to join a team...

After England's European Championship win last year we compiled a list of local football clubs with women's and girls' football programmes, and on the back of the Lionesses reaching the World Cup final we've got an updated version to share.

The FA revealed plans last year to get 120,000 girls joining clubs, and the good news is there are plenty of opportunities for budding female football fanatics across South West Surrey and East Hampshire, including:
