SPORT Haslemere is hoping the town’s Celebrity Big Brother contestant Jess Impiazzi will sprint to the finish.
The TV reality star was named as one of eight female contestants taking part in the Channel 5 show on Tuesday, and the identities of the eight-strong male cohort will be revealed tonight (Friday).
A champion of sport for the disabled, Jess has been a key support for her mother Debbie, who lost her sight 11 years ago due to a rare degenerative eye condition.
Mrs Impiazzi won a Sport Haslemere Award in 2015 for the fighting spirit she demonstrated by successfully competing in the 2015 Gibbet Hill 10k and her daughter helped guide her round the course in the 2016 challenge.
She also climbed three mountain peaks to raise money for The Surrey Association for Visual Impairment – the charity that provided a lifeline for the family following the devastating diagnosis.
“It is fantastic to see a local celebrity promoting sport for the disabled, showing that with a little bit of support anything is possible for people who are a little less able,” Sport Haslemere chairman Peter Lawrence.
“Well done Jess for showing us all how it should be done.”
Jess took up residence with her seven other female housemates on Tuesday and the identities of the eight-strong male line up will be revealed tonight (January 5).
