ALTON Lions are spearheading a drive to raise awareness of prostate cancer.
The charitable group is teaming up with Prostate Cancer South Organisation to offer men, aged 45 to 75, a free blood test to detect possible signs of prostate cancer.
Blood samples will then be sent to a prostate cancer charitable trust, who post the results back to the patient, with an explanatory letter authorised by a retired consultant urologist.
The free NHS cancer-testing initiative will be held at Alton Community Centre on Saturday, July 21, from 10am-3pm.
An Alton Lions spokesman said: “Early-stage prostate cancer does not generally have any symptoms, so if you are in the target age group it’s prudent to have a simple blood test which could save your life.”
