Volunteers at a Liss charity have been praised as their carpentry skills will help Mother Nature at a nearby temple.

Skilled members of the Liss Men’s Shed can be proud of their handiwork after producing 21 timber bat and bird boxes for White Eagle Lodge.

The sturdy hand-made boxes will be placed around the Newlands Estate in the hope of providing bird species with a safe place to roost and nest.

Liss Men’s Shed is a community space based at Newman Collard for men and women to converse, connect and create.

Woodwork and cycle maintenance are among the courses available at the club, which aims to alleviate isolation, boredom, bereavement and similar issues through workshops, discussion and the learning of practical skills.
