A man saved after turning “blue and lifeless” in Medstead Village Hall has organised free CPR and defibrillator training.

Jackie Jurd walked in to see a friend giving CPR to her husband Ian, 76. A Thruxton air ambulance crew, Dr Rob Summerhayes and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital staff stabilised him before heart surgery.

Ian said: “Two police cars, two ambulances and an air ambulance turned up within 15 minutes of me collapsing. I look at myself in the mirror sometimes and I can't believe I'm still here. I'm so grateful for everything that was done for me, especially the CPR.”

Sessions are at the Alton Assembly Rooms on November 12 at 12.30pm and November 19 at 10.30am, and at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Four Marks on November 22 at 10.30am. To book a place email [email protected]
