ALTHOUGH it meant a muddy walk, often in the rain, the weather didn't deter visitors from travelling to Selborne Lavender Farm for its annual open weekend.

Saturday was the busier day – a fact not lost on Anne Butler who, with her husband Tim, has run the farm for 10 years, and who said that it was probably because of "a certain men's final at Wimbledon".

The constant rain has made it difficult organising the open days as the paths between the lavender bushes are very muddy but on their walk the visitors were rewarded with a glowing mauve haze of colour stretching across the fields.
