AN OPENING date has been confirmed for Coppa Club at the former Georgian Hotel on Haslemere High Street – and the countdown is on.

All-day dining and hotel group Coppa Club is set to open at the site on Tuesday, May 3.

The former co-owner of the Georgian Hotel, entrepreneur Richard Angel, has expressed his delight at the news of the opening date.

Richard, who sold the Georgian to the Jaspar Group – a boutique residential developer – for more than £4.6 million said: “It’s phenomenal really, that what I set out to achieve in 2017 is now becoming a reality.

“My vision from five years ago is going to come to fruition. I feel I’ve proved the doubters wrong.

“Coppa Club transitions between morning, noon and night – whether you’re working, socialising or being.

“This will bring people to the town from further afield. The nearest Coppa Cub is in Cobham, and the nearest similar venue is the Ivy Brasserie in Guildford.

“It will bring a huge amount of interest and footfall into the town.

“Property rule 101 is to have a big anchor tenant which attracts lots of people in, and then all the other smaller businesses benefit.

“For business owners in Haslemere it is a hugely exciting time.

“Coppa Club is a perfect anchor tenant to bring footfall to the town.”

Richard is already looking forward to his first visit to Haslemere’s Coppa Club.

“I’ve already been in contact the Various Eateries chief executive and we will meet up for a drink there,” said Richard.

“I’m also looking forward to enjoying Coppa Club with my friends and supporters who bought into my vision. I hear they do a mean cocktail – so I’m looking forward to that.”

Richard added Coppa Club was set to bring jobs to the area.

“This will create employment opportunities in the town,” he said. “There will be jobs for bar staff, housekeeping, front of house and cleaning staff.

“I’ve already seen advertisements locally.”

Yishay Malkov, chief executive officer of Various Eateries, operator of Coppa Club, said: “We are delighted to announce Coppa Club will be opening in Haslemere in May.

“For years, private members’ clubs have monopolised the market as spaces for people to stay all day, from working to relaxing and this is something we are starting to change.

“We pride ourselves in providing people with a personalised experience, a place where they can work, eat, drink, meet or relax – from first thing in the morning till late at night.

“We are looking forward to becoming part of the local community and providing something for everyone in the charming town of Haslemere.”

Haslemere’s Coppa Club will include a boutique hotel with 13 bedrooms, as well as a cafe, bar and restaurant.

There will also be a garden terrace with a large fire pit for cool summer nights, three igloos and a series of events designed specifically for local people to enjoy throughout the seasons.

The lounge, terrace and private dining space will be available from morning to night.

Coppa Club caters to a wide range of dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten-free, and nut allergies.

Haslemere’s Coppa Club is currently recruiting.

Various Eateries head of marketing Lotte Leatham confirmed: “We are actively trying to recruit at the moment.”
