A DECISION to grant permission for an 80-home estate on a meadow that joins Chawton Park Wood, at Friars Oak Farm in Boyneswood Road, Medstead has sparked anger. Residents were shocked by Thursday's decision to permit large scale development of a site considered a definite 'no go'. There was standing room only at Penn's Place, Petersfield, as East Hampshire District Council debated the application by The William Lacey Group, whose agent argued that not only would the development make a key contribution towards the 175 new greenfield homes required over the next 14 years in the Four Marks and South Medstead area, but it would help address the shortage in the district's five-year housing land supply, and be deliverable within two years.
