ONE of Petersfield’s most iconic stores could be given a new lease of life by an award-winning firm.

A planning application has been submitted to convert the former Bran Tub unit into a medical centre. The application doesn’t state who will run the centre but 6A Vision Homes Ltd are involved.

The proposals include a “high quality façade” with the front door being moved to the centre of the frontage.

The interior will be reconfigured to include four surgery rooms, a waiting area, reception, treatment room and decon room.

No extensions are planned but an asbestos sheet roof at the rear of the 20 Lavant Street property will be replaced.

“In what is a difficult retail market at present the unit, due to its size and location, has attracted interest from a health centre operator,” reads the design and access statement.

Planners have already received several letters of support while Petersfield Town Council have raised no objection.

The application does not affect the Centre for Complimentary Medicine above with the business in the process of moving to a new premises on Dragon Street.
