LITTLE more than a year ago, a large branch fell onto the pergola in the Allen Gallery garden in Alton causing a lot of damage.

Fortunately, Alton Men’s Shed came to the rescue and rebuilt the structure which now looks new.

They also made four obelisks which will be used to support some of the garden’s climbing plants.

Recently, men from the shed called in to the gallery where the Friends of the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery and the gardening team were able to say ‘thank you’.

Open to the public, the garden has just won silver in the Best Community Group Garden category in Alton in Bloom.
