ALTON Men’s Shed is going great guns.

It has projects queuing up to work on and it would like to welcome more members to help in responding to them – but it is desperate for larger premises.

Launched five years ago, it is still struggling in “a micro space” – a small ‘shed’ located in All Saints Church car park, from which it is trying to satisfy the needs of the community projects the group is being asked to undertake.

While the quest continues for a bigger place to call home, ‘shedders’ remain busy.

Recent jobs include the repair of a vandalised bus shelter in Anstey Road, the refurbishment of a bench at Bentworth pond, and the installation of a rose trellis in the garden at Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton.
