ALTON Model Railway Group is holding an open day this month.
It will be held at the 8th Alton Scout Group headquarters at Anstey Park on Sunday, September 24.
Visitors will be able to view the Southolt layout, courtesy of the club’s ‘O gauge’ members, and a small part of the Pine Bluffs and Red Dot Mine layout, displayed by the American section.
In addition, members will be working on ‘Welles’, one of the original club layouts from 1983 which is being brought into the 21st Century by converting it to DCC operation.
Also on show and operating will be the OO gauge ‘Alton’ layout.
The club has a test track in all the popular gauges and this will be available for anyone who might like to bring their own engines or trains to run on it.
Alton Model Railway Group is always looking for new members and a spokesman said that visitors were assured of a warm welcome.
The doors will open from 10.30am to 4pm, admission is free, and light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
