DISTRICT folk who are part of an existing project or looking to set up something new that will benefit young people have until January 8 to apply for a £250 grant from the East Hampshire Youth Council’s Money Pot scheme.
The grants, which are agreed and awarded by the members of the youth council, are given out in rounds. The next set of grants will be awarded early next summer, so any groups that want the money soon will need to apply now.
Matthew Knight, youth council chairman, said: “Last year, we awarded £3,035 in total to 15 different organisations from all over the area. This benefited 1,650 young people and contributed toward new resources, group set-up costs, training and events. We are really pleased that we could help.”
East Hampshire Youth Council is for all young people aged 11 to 21 who either live, learn or work in the district. The youth council strives to give all young people a voice in their community and to make a real difference.
The district council recognises the importance and benefit of listening to children and young people to change, improve and introduce new services.
