Woodlarks Camp Site for the disabled just south of Farnham has received a £3,000 donation from the town’s Lions towards a new cookhouse and pantry.

Woodlarks provides facilities for week-long holidays throughout the spring, summer and autumn for more than 1,000 severely disabled adults and children, allowing them to enjoy a holiday under canvas and undertake exciting activities.

The site gives them a chance to use accessible woodland paths, a heated outdoor swimming pool, wheelchair swings, a trampoline, a zipwire through the trees and many other exciting facilities.

Catering for all the campers takes place in a purpose-built cookhouse and pantry, which uses a wood-fired trench oven for cooking.

This building has reached the end of its usable life and needs completely rebuilding while improving accessibility by removing steps and widening doorways and cooking/preparation areas to make it wheelchair accessible.

The Lions’ donation will be used to help fund this project.
