Pupils from More House School visited Tilford Care and Nursing Home to meet their inter-generational penpals.

The children have been writing to residents, exchanging news and stories while learning letter-writing skills.

They demonstrated a skittles game they made in technology lessons, and taught and played other games such as Connect 4 and Whack-A-Mole.

Literacy tutor Karen Wane said: “The Inter-generational Penpal Project is a wonderful initiative that gives our pupils a real purpose for their writing. We have been involved for over five years now and the boys really look forward to receiving their letters. They were especially excited to be able to put a face to a name when we visited.”
