EAST Hampshire planners have voted through an outline application by Local Homes Ltd, giving permission for another 69 homes west of Lymington Farm Industrial Estate, Lymington Bottom Road, in south Medstead.

Seen as a continuation of an adjacent rural exception site, which already has outline permission for a mixture of up to 38 affordable and age restricted dwellings, this proposal will bring the number of new dwellings on the site to 107.

Despite objection from Medstead Parish Council that "the scale of the development was inappropriate for the size of the settlement of the parish of Medstead", neighbouring Four Marks Parish Council took a more pragmatic view.

It believes the site to be the most appropriate place for some of the additional 175 homes on greenfield sites to be built in Medstead/Four Marks in line with East Hampshire District Council's emerging joint core strategy to 2028.
