EAST Hampshire MP Damian Hinds has signed the Book of Commitment for this year's Holocaust Memorial Day.

To be held on Monday this year's event will mark the 69th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.

In the weeks leading up to and after Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of commemorative events will be arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country, remembering the victims of the holocaust and subsequent genocides.

Mr Hinds said: "The Holocaust Educational Trust does extremely valuable work in bringing the horrors of the holocaust to light for generation after generation of students.

"It is important that we do not forget what happened during that terrible period."
