Backbeat Collective and Phoenix Arts are bringing a regular, part-time ‘Music School’ to Whitehill and Bordon.

Aly Duff (third from left in photo), founder of Backbeat Collective and a local music producer and promoter, said: “After spending many years living in Lindford and working at ACM in Guildford I’ve always had a dream to share our passion for music locally.

“We are initially offering courses in bass, guitar, vocals and drums and our courses are open to all, from beginner to those seeking to polish their skills for a professional career in music.”

The Backbeat Collective’s part-time school, launched on January 21, brings together professional musicians with over 130 years worth of experience in performance and tutoring combined. It will offer vocal, drum, guitar, bass and performance tutoring for 14-plus year olds.

Pheonix Arts artistic director Rob Allerston (on right in photo) added: “This is a fantastic chance for young musicians to have the opportunity to use the theatre as a performance space and really develop as musicians and improve their musical ability.

“But it will also add to their performing skills, learning from pros who’ve been in the business many, many years.”
