A cricketing legend is set to bowl over a Petersfield audience as he’s going back to school in support of a local charity.

Churcher’s College will host An Evening with Nasser Hussain OBE in support of Maddy’s Mark on April 24.

Early ticket buyers may ask a question in advance with the former England captain keen to answer as many as possible on the night.

Guests have been promised an unforgettable evening of insight and fascinating stories from the commentator and batsman, who scored more than 30,000 runs over a glittering career.

Nasser is friends with the family of Maddy Lawrence, a former Churcher’s student from Sheet who died aged just 20 in March 2022. Despite a courageous fight in hospital, she died from sepsis two weeks after sustaining an injury while playing rugby for her university team in Bristol.

Maddy’s Mark was launched in her name to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people through rugby, the sport she loved and cherished, and its cornerstones of teamwork, mutual support and fellowship.

Her mother, Karen, is thrilled that Hussain has agreed to hold a Q&A and hopes the local cricketing fraternity will snap up tickets for a very good cause.

She said: “It will mainly by a Q&A session with Nasser but there will also be an auction with Jonathan Pratt (Bargain Hunt) with lots of really good prizes.”

Tickets for the 6.30pm event are £20 from www.churcherscollege.com to include a welcome drink and auction with all proceeds going to Maddy’s Mark.
