THERE was a novel twist to Alton Infant School’s Nativity play this year as it involved angels and a newspaper announcement of the birth of Jesus.

Called The Angel Express‚ there were two afternoon performances in the final week of term last week, and the story involved angels in Heaven trying to write a song for the forthcoming birth of Jesus when they see a newspaper with the headlines that He has already been born.

One of the undoubted highlights was a pupils choir conducted by six-year-old Finlay James and a collection was taken which raised £467 for two charities – Ronald MacDonald House and the premature intensive car unit at Southampton Hospital.
