THE heat might be off but activity is not cooling down at the Petersfield Open Air Pool after a mixed summer.

The main season at the “jewel in the crown of Petersfield” has finished earlier than usual as a programme of repairs and improvements will begin in early October.

The disabled toilets and shower block will be improved but they’ve been given a helping hand by RAK Ceramics as the Frenchmans Road firm has donated tiles.

There’s one last weekend of cooler water swimming with bookings available for four sessions this Saturday and Sunday morning.

The heating was turned off on September 17 with the water temperature dropping by two degrees each week.

Petersfield town councillors heard in a report last week that the pool’s finances were hugely buoyed by the early September heatwave while the moonlit and twilight swims also swelled the coffers.

Cllr Thomas Figgins claimed the pool’s decision to take on a marketing officer had paid dividends as users in places as far as Bordon, Alton and Portsmouth had responded to their social media posts.

Trustees also hope their ‘buy a brick’ and ‘200 club’ lottery will also help with more information at www.petersfieldpool.org
