St Mary’s Bentworth CE Primary School welcomed back former pupil Jess Rowe to talk about rowing across the Pacific Ocean.

Jess recently completed the row alongside Miriam Payne in a two-woman team who were the first female rowers to accomplish the feat.

The journey took six months and tested physical endurance, mental resilience and teamwork in some of the world’s most challenging ocean conditions.

Jess spoke to pupils about her time at St Mary’s, her love of adventure and the determination required to pursue ambitious goals.

She shared stories from the voyage, answered questions from captivated children and encouraged them to believe in themselves, whatever their dreams may be.

A St Mary’s spokesperson said: “The visit was a proud and memorable moment for the school, celebrating both local roots and global achievement.”
