A pavlova topped by a Union Jack was the star attraction of the Platinum Jubilee street party held at Princess Drive in Alton.

Rev Philip Simpkins said: “Due to the hard work and organisation of Louise Long, Princess Drive in Alton enjoyed a wonderful street party on Friday, June 3 from 2pm.

“In warm, sunny weather over 50 people gathered, of all ages, to share food, conversation and laughter, seated around tables lining the street adorned with flags and balloons.

“Activities were provided for the children on a nearby lawn and everyone, having brought food and drink, had a very enjoyable time as the local community came together.

“A special Jubilee pavlova cake was made by Tony, which was delicious! Many thanks to Louise and Angela for all their hard work, and to all who supported the event in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.”
